DOVER CLIFFS (c, 3, English Channel–Dreams, by Silver Hawk) earned his first black-type badge in the Cutler Bay H. at Gulfstream Park Saturday. The bay finished second by a neck in his debut over this course Jan. 7 and graduated by 1 1/2 lengths here Feb. 19. Tabbed the 6-5 favorite in this step up in class, the Christophe Clement trainee tracked from midpack three off the fence as 80-1 longshot Gemologister (Gemologist) set fractions of :25.18 and :49 flat. Winding up under Jose Ortiz leaving the bend, Dover Cliffs took dead aim at the pacesetter and stormed by, drawing off to win by about two lengths. Gemologister held on for second.
